C x plates were originally issued by Yorkshire (West Riding) County Council and unfortunately original records didn't survive, all x C plates are DVLA auction sales

By close of business on 2nd January 1904 Yorkshire (West Riding) County Council had registered 168 cars and 97 motorcycles.

C 1 is believed to have been issued to Henry Butler, 14th Viscount Mountgarret of Ripley, Yorkshire. It stayed in the family until Richard Butler, 17th Viscount Mountgarret placed it on the market in 1979.

Richard Cashmore of Sutton Coldfield then owned it for almost 40 years, selling it in 2018.

C 2 is believed to have been issued to Henry Butler, 14th Viscount Mountgarret of Ripley, Yorkshire

Owned since new but I'm unable to determine when the plate was assigned but I suspect it was when it was new. Current owner is known and is based in the Midlands.

C 3 is a confirmed lost plate.
