E x plates were originally issued by Staffordshire County Council, all x E plates are DVLA auction sales

By close of business on 2nd January 1904 Staffordshire County Council had registered 115 cars and 79 motorcycles.

E 1

The current owner is known and lives in London.

E 2

Now based in the South East of England.

Taken in 1979

E 3 was issued to Francis Bolton of Oakmoor.

Current owner is known and based in the Midlands.

E 4

This plate was sold in early 2022.

In early 2024 the then owner found a plate that suited them more so it was time to move it on. The current owner is known and based in the Midlands.

E 5 is a confirmed lost plate.

E 6

E 7 is registered to a 1903 Cadillac, it was based in the North of England, but the vehicle was sold in 2024. The plate is marked as non-transferable.

E 8, it's unknown the original details but in 1955 the 4th Earl of Lichfield Thomas Edward Anson bought a Rover 75. When the Earl died the car was passed to his wife Violet Margaret, Countess of Lichfield, who carried on running the car until the early 1980s. The countess used the car regularly to visit family in Devon. She then donated it to the care of the National Trust at Shugborough complete with its special number plate. The Trust have no plans to restore the car.

E 9 was issued to George Burnell of Rugeley. Shortly after this the plate was transferred to Francis Bolton of Oakmoor (who also owned E 3).

The plate is based in the Midlands.

1 E was sold by DVLA in 1994 for £22K

Current owner is known and based in the North of England.

2 E was sold by DVLA in 1998 for £18K

3 E was sold by DVLA in 1994 for £8K and until mid 2021 it was based in Newport.

It was then sold for £230K, the current owner is known and based in London.

4 E was sold by DVLA in 1996 for £12K

The owner is known and based in the South East of England.

5 E was sold by DVLA in 1995 for £10K.

The plate was owned by Steve Jackson of Preston although it's unknown when he accquired the plate, he sold it on in 2021. The current owner is known and is based in the North of England.
